Bio

Hello, person who found my website.

My name is Maria Young and I know a little bit about a lot of things, and as of today I’d have to say I’m a bit of an expert in fitness instruction and office management…Overall however, I’d describe myself as a sincere generalist and a balanced, and moderate person.

I was trained in Hatha Yoga at the Piedmont Yoga Studio by Richard Rosen and Rodney Yee…but my style is usually a blend of things so I call it Hatha Flow. I also teach a style of mixed martial art called LockBoxing, and now, Zumba!  I’m also ACE certified personal trainer.

I’m called “Ma’am” at  Alameda Martial Arts where I am the office manager,  the bookkeeper, and the p.r. guy.

I use QuickBooks accounting software, MindBody™ CRM, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and whatever else it takes to get the job done.

I’m using this site to tell you about my services and to share what makes me happy.  My blog/log is where I post/archive stories that interest me and muse about life in general.

Besides being the mother of three mostly grown and successful children I have accumulated these titles and certifications:

Red Cross CPR/1st Aide Adult and Pediatric 11/14

Aerialates Certified Instructor 1/2014

Yoga Alliance Certified:  500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher-Experienced 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher

ACE Certified Personal Trainer 7/13

Zumba Certified Basic Step 1  8/13

Black Belt, LockBoxing MMA/ Grand Champion Title:  WKSA Tri-State Tournament 2005

M.A., Comparative Literature U.C. Berkeley

B.A., English Literature, C.S.U. Long Beach

I intend to collect some more.  You know, before I die.  I like to keep busy and there’s so much to know.
