Hi Maria,Thanks for your note. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone again too, but I just get the feeling that everyone is packing a lot in before the end of summer. I will definitely invite Max to join us when we give a presentation at Christ Church about the trip, some time in the fall. We would love to have him say a few words about what the trip meant to him, if he would like, or just to be there as part of our team. We’ll show slides and anyone from the group who would like to speak will have a chance to.

I have another favorite Max moment from the trip to tell you about. We were on one of our longer bus rides one day, going to Suchitoto. Max was sitting with the window wide open, and for about half an hour he had his head out the window, enjoying letting the wind blow in his face, watching the jungle, the mountains and the clouds go by. At one point he started singing! He looked so happy! After a while he closed the window, but he still kept watching everything outside going by, and I was so curious about what he was thinking. I’m sure some of those thoughts and images will appear in some of his writing one day.

All the other boys on the bus were either listening to their iPods, sleeping or reading. But I could tell that Max was really getting the most out of the day, really soaking up everything he could. I guess he reminds me a lot of myself – the sense of wonder I feel about the world. It was such a pleasure to travel with him and see him enjoying himself.

I’ll definitely keep in touch!

Dear Amigos y Amigas,

It seems that everyone is too busy, so we’re cancelling the El Salvador reunion scheduled for August 18. I only heard from 3 people, and none of them could come. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer. We’ll keep in touch.

Thanks again, to all of you who came on the trip – each one of you contributed to making it an AWESOME experience for me, and for the people we met along the way. Keep up the great work – helping others – just like Sister Peggy encouraged us to do!

Hasta pronto!
